New photo albums

Yesterday I was finally able to retire to my studio (I love saying that!) for a few hours to work on some books. I had a couple of premade photo album text blocks that I wanted to bind, and I also had preparedcut, folded, creased and punched over the course of a few evenings, a few weeks agoenough pages of Rives BFK for about four post-and-nut photo albums. In the end I cased in one of the premade albums and finished one of the post-and-nut albums, which was a pretty satisfying day’s play.
I am super-pleased with the way the album from the premade text block turned out. The only casing in that I’ve done was for two journals in a class, but this came out great. I should probably have left slightly wider gutters between the spine board and the cover boards, but the groove is sufficient for opening and closing the book, even if it’s not as pronounced as maybe it should be.
I was less happy with the results of my post-and-nut album. Though I thought I had been careful when I punched the holes for the screw posts, they weren’t quite centered, and they weren’t quite straight. I compensated for this when punching the holes in the support boards, but the pages are a little jagged. That said, I’m probably the only one who will notice (and I could probably trim the edges with the guillotine cutter next time I’m at SFCB).
